Artist's Statement

The most tranquil yet wondrous moments of my life are times spent witnessing the ostensibly arbitrary qualities of nature. Especially intriguing has always been the enormity of the ocean defined by the eternal backdrop of sky.

Much of my creative energy is derived from the skies, ocean, and dunes of Cape Cod Massachusetts. Pilgrimages to Wellfleet, Chatham, and Provincetown have been part of my life since early childhood.

The combination of memory, imagination and pure enjoyment generate my transformations of nature. I refer to my paintings this way, because within each painting exists the expected accompanied by the unexpected and the believable entangled with the unbelievable.

Almost fifty years of memories and impressions of the Cape led me to the transformations of nature that are my paintings. It is my goal for the viewer of my work to recognize a place where the unusual and the anticipated are shared.
